Maiden galloper Empire Flier (AUS) was retired from the race near the 300m mark after faltering badly. A subsequent examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a heart attack and he was euthanased on track, 13th of May, 2010.
I get quite frustrated when a few readers automatically assume this is an anti horse racing website. This could not be further from the truth.
