SA Road accident deaths

Southern Dollar (AUS)
Bay gelding 2007 - 7/7/2010, by Southern Image (USA) ex Risk Seeker

Celtic Man (AUS)

Bay colt, 2006 – 21/7/2010, by King Cugat (USA) ex Jenwren

Within the space of 2 weeks, the above two racehorses were killed on Adelaide roads adjacent to their stables; motorists not heeding the required speed warnings.

Unraced but trialled, Southern Dollar was being led back to his stable after trackwork at Morphettville and knocked down by a taxi. It was a close call for jockey Claire Lindop who tried to avert the disaster. He was euthanased as a result of his injuries.

Unraced three-year-old colt from the Kirsty Cordon stable, Celtic Man, was being led back to his stables on Sutherland Avenue, Semaphore Park after completing some beachwork nearby.
Walking along the road before 7 a.m., 21/7/10, the vehicle hit the son of King Cugat from behind, killing him at the scene. The car also struck the handler of the horse who fortunately escaped uninjured.
