In a tragic loss, MEURICE, our champion 2yo colt of 06/07 broke his shoulder at trackwork at Randwick this morning and had to be euthansied. The former Melbourne colt had previously won the G2 Todman Stakes and was placed in the G1 Golden Slipper and G1 AJC Sires' Produce Stakes, form that saw him voted Australian Champion 2YO.Meurice, by Strategic, had raced seven times for three wins and four placings and prizemoney of $956,500.

Darley Stud purchased the breeding rights to Meurice for $12 million after he won the G1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick last April, his last race start.
