Mandarin Duck (AUS)
Chestnut filly 2004 - 2/4/2008, by Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) ex My Brilliant Star
Trainer: Brian Mayfield-Smith at FLEMINGTON
Owners: BK Taylor
4 0-1-0 $4,200 Stakes AU
Flemington ~ Trackwork
This talented and lightly raced filly became another victim of the wild storms in Melbourne this week. Mandarin Duck spooked and bolted because of high winds, then clipped an upright post of the running rail resulting in a smashed sesamoid and cannonbone. "Ducky" was showing real potential, a half to dual group 1 winning sprinter sudurka, she had only had three starts finishing in the top 4 each time and never further away than two lengths.
R.I.P. little one.
