Octedi's sad story is one, thankfully, which doesn't happen too often. Octedi raced 17 times for her owners up until October 1999, when she was retired to stud. Over the next few years she produced a colt and filly, over three seasons. She was then put back into training, and at her first start back after many years off and motherhood (at the picnics, no less) she suffered a fractured pelvis and was euthanased at the track, 20th of September, 2003.
