2007 Tasmanian Horse of the year Stuyvesant broke down during the running of the Listed Anniversary Vase at Caulfield, fracturing his off fore pastern and he was euthanased, Saturday the 5th of April 2008. He was racing in Victoria, where he was yet to win a race in 9 attempts across the Tasman. He was running easily in second place today when he suffered the life ending injury.
Just a few weeks ago, Stuyvesant took out the George Adams Stakes at Mowbray for the third year in a row. In winning he rewrote the record books to become the first horse to win the prestigious weight-for-age event three times.
