Silky Red Boxer (NZ)

Bay gelding 1999 by Casual Lies (USA), stakes winning gelding Silky Red Boxer (NZ) broke down in his near front doing track work at Rosehill in Feburary 2007, He has had a big operation on it to save him, which was successful and he has now returned to New Zealand to retire in Levin. He will never race again.
He was trainer by Heather Weller in Foxton NZ, then transferred to Sydney where he won 4 races, beating Spirt of Tara a few times.
Jimmy was a great little racehorse with a big heart. Photo~1

Silky Red Boxer (Jimmy) has been with us here in Levin for 2 years now. He has fitted in really well with our herd (4 Appaloosas and Star of the Seas, another retired Weller/Waller racehorse)He is fat and happy and a lovely ride. His leg was broken (spiral fracture to the cannon bone) and was pinned and plated before he came back to NZ. I usually ride him in splint boots just as a precaution, and sometimes he is a bit short on that side - but it doesn't stop him hooning round the paddock with the other nags! We love him to bits - he owes a bit thanks to the Not Enough Taro Syndicate who loved him enought to fix him - and they owe him and his trainers a big thanks for the successes he had!
