In a four horse incident, Stella Joy fell at the 300m mark, she suffered a fractured near hind leg and was euthanased on track, 14th of June 2008. Street Smart, Centinelle and Seconde all fell as a result and suffered various minor injuries.

It is an absolute disgrace, on TVN yesterday not one word was mentioned about the welfare of any of the horses that fell in the race and in todays Sun Herald they have a picture of the horses spread over the track but not one mention on their outcome. This neglect needs to be highlighted
