A post race veterinary examination of Santiara (AUS) revealed the mare had broken down in the offside foreleg, cracking a sesamoid bone. After a thorough clinical assessment lasting 10 days, it was decided that the mare needed to be euthanased, 6/7/2010.

*Note – this mares fate was not reported, but details have been confirmed with her trainer, who said she was a lovely mare but would have been in pain for rest of her life.
