SA Road accident deaths
Bay gelding 2007 - 7/7/2010, by Southern Image (USA) ex Risk Seeker
Celtic Man (AUS)
Bay colt, 2006 – 21/7/2010, by King Cugat (USA) ex Jenwren
Within the space of 2 weeks, the above two racehorses were killed on Adelaide roads adjacent to their stables; motorists not heeding the required speed warnings.
Unraced but trialled, Southern Dollar was being led back to his stable after trackwork at Morphettville and knocked down by a taxi. It was a close call for jockey Claire Lindop who tried to avert the disaster. He was euthanased as a result of his injuries.
Unraced three-year-old colt from the Kirsty Cordon stable, Celtic Man, was being led back to his stables on Sutherland Avenue, Semaphore Park after completing some beachwork nearby.
Walking along the road before 7 a.m., 21/7/10, the vehicle hit the son of King Cugat from behind, killing him at the scene. The car also struck the handler of the horse who fortunately escaped uninjured.

Passing the 500m Saddler Jack broke down badly in his off foreleg. As a result he was euthanased on track 30/6/2010.

Following the race, seven year old gelding Yoshi Raaza (AUS) was examined by the on-course veterinary surgeon and was diagnosed with a broken near side pelvis. Due to this injury, the gelding was euthanased on track, 30/6/2010.
In over five years of racing, Yoshi Raaza failed to win a race. That was until late May when Yoshi Raaza won a steeplechase at Casterton that was later declared a no-race as the race was marred by the death of Prince Vitality (AUS).
But Yoshi Razza was not to be denied victory for any longer, winning at his next start at the same venue on June 20 in the $15,000 Pot A Round Garden Centre Maiden Steeplechase (3800m).

Rumoroso (AUS) was retired from the race approaching the 1200m mark. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed he had broken down badly in the hear foreleg, and as a result of injuries sustained he was euthanased on track, 29/6/2010.

Approaching the 100m, promising gelding Mr Khan (AUS) broke down and fell, dislodging his rider. On veterinary examination it was reported that he had sustained a serious injury to the near fore fetlock and he was euthanased on humane grounds, 24/6/2010.

In a major blow for the Hayes stable and connections, imported stayer Our Aqaleem (GB) fractured a shoulder during trackwork at Flemington and had to be put down. This followed the sudden loss of fellow imported stayer and stablemate Changingoftheguard, after a routine gelding operation.
