Pre race Post breakdown 1~ Post~2~ Post~3~ Post~4~
In horrific scenes in front of the crowded grandstand in the Australia Hurdle, Crying Storm landed badly after the fifth hurdle, and broke down. He fractured his off fore leg above the knee, and continued hobbling for a further 100m, hitting the running rail before he was stopped. He was quickly euthanased behind a screen at the winning post before the field came around for the finish.
Crying Storm was a good flat performer winning four races including a 2000m open handicap at Flemington and running fourth to Exalted Time in the Adelaide Cup, then a Group One race, as a four-year-old.The season before that he finished eighth to Tails Of Triomphe in the 2005 South Australian Derby.
This was personally witnessed by myself today, and is one of the worst break downs I have seen, Crying Storms off foreleg was literally swinging as he continued to run on three good legs. I will, at a later stage include some photos I took of this incident today.
*Personally Witnessed.
RIP Crying Storm.

This was really horrific, bringing back memories of Bay Story at Flemington.
The images I saw today, will not leave my mind for quite a while.
I saw this and it broke my heart. The horrific Ipswich race falls shortly thereafter I also saw and between them both I am so saddened. As a horse owner, I was so upset I had to go and hug all 8 of mine, 3 of which are much loved ex-racehorses.
to my hero STORMY, u gave me my proudest moments in racing.Your kindness and willingness as a youngster will remain in my heart forever. You were always honest and proud,a true professional to the end.I was blessed to have the opportunity to train, care and work with you.To me you were the ultimate athlete...R.I.P big guy.
Thank Peter, your words say it all. He clearly meant a lot to you.
I will not forget what I witnessed, standing there in the cold wind on the lawn.
RIP, Stormy.
When is Victoria Racing going to stop this cruel "sport" of jumps racing? These poor animals lug around this huge weight for such a long distance to the point of exhaustion and just crash.Thats why every other state in Aust has banned it.As a passion horse lover these horrific scenes only further damage the horse racing industry.
P.S Olivia..This a really great tribute site for our fallen beautiful horses.Congratulations to you.
Thanks. We just can't let them be forgotten, or brushed aside.
Olivia
